Yes, my husband can build cool stuff!

Over Christmas Terry and I worked on our front deck. Terry built it, and I stained it. It's not completely finished in these pics, but it has been raining outside for the last week so this is the best pic I have.

Terry has these hidden talents. He can do stuff like build a deck, run electricity to the house, and play the drums. You think you know a person when you marry them, but I'm just now finding out Terry can do this kind of stuff and we've been married for almost two years!!

These are the only pics I have of the house with the new exterior paint. I wish I had some taken when it was lighter out. MAN! I'm so glad we are rid of the baby blue trim. I LOVE the new color!

I can't wait to spend some summer evenings on the deck with a glass of lemonade and friends!

WIDE LOAD!!

My posts are totally out of order, I KNOW!!

In July, we got our house. It came on a big truck. AND IT WAS SO EXCITING!! When we first got the place it was a big piece of junk. We've done a TON of work and we will be moving in soon. PG&E is coming the second week of February to put in the new power pole, (yeah! we get our very own power pole!) transformer (no, not the kind that mutate and talk and blow things up) and connect power to our meter box.

Here are some pictures of when the house was "delivered." This day was so surreal to Terry and I. The house has gone through a major transformation from when we first got it. I will post more of the "after" pics soon.

TMI- our crapper system

I haven't posted in FOREVER!! We had our septic system installed in August of 2009. For those of you who don't know what a septic system looks like, here's what it entails when you live in the country...

1. Leech lines 2. Septic tank 3. Money

It was pretty cool to watch the guys put this in. They did it ALL in one day. I guess when you have the right tools, machinery, and a team of 5 experienced guys, you can get a lot done in one day. P.S. If you ever need a septic system installed I highly recommend Unruh Backhoe Service.

We got CARPET! Yeeeeaaaah!

We had carpet installed on Saturday. Our house finally is looking pulled together. It's still a work in progress, but WOAH! What a difference the carpet made. Now we need to finish up the bathrooms and laundry room.

Above: The Guest Room (this blue turned out so pretty! It's so relaxing)

Our kitchen had honey oak cabinets. YUCK! I felt like I was in my parents house. We painted them white and put new handles on. Painting cabinets is TREACHEROUS! But... I love, love, love the white. The white cabinets made the kitchen look pulled together, fresh, and ready for some gooood cookin'!

Yeah... you can see we threw all our junk in the laundry room for the picture.... haha
P.S. That fridge was a total tithing blessing. Terry works at Lowe's and we got an $1800 fridge for $750 because it was a returned item. STEAL PEOPLE!! STEAL I SAY!!

Above is our master bedroom, pretty empty right now. Terry did all the trim and installed the closet organizers. SWEET!

Now we need to get the electricity hooked up, the final occupancy certificate and we're good to go! Sound simple? NOT! PG&E has a 6-8 week waiting list... If we're lucky, we might get in by Christmas.

We want to move in so badly. Words cannot describe. We have been working on this house since March, when we first went to go see it. It's been a TON of hard work. But now that it's getting closer to being finished, we feel an immense amount of satisfaction since we've out so much love into our home.

We are making a trip to IKEA for my birthday to buy some furniture and fill up our cute house. Yippee! :)

A new favorite!!!

This quilt is definitely a baby quilt. Anyone expecting?? :) I'm not sure if it should be for a boy or a girl however. The blue is definitely boyish, but to me the design looks kinda girly.... What do you think?

I Love this quilt. It is a new favorite. I love the colors and the quilting. For the quilting design, I just went crazy in all sorts of directions. My inspiration for this quilt was "water" hence the picture by the pool.

The backing for this one is another Batik. (Have you noticed that I love batiks?) I am so in love with the swirly blues... I should have bought more of this fabric!!

Oakley's Quilt

I finished quilting and binding Oakley's quilt. Now I just need to mail it and "Hadley's" quilt to Utah.

One thing I learned about this quilt is that I absolutely HATE the clear mono filament thread. Next time I will try the smoky color, but the clear shows all your mistakes... I almost don't want to give this quilt away because I'm embarrassed of the quilting.

I tried to rip it out and start over, but because this thread is basically like plastic, when I tried to rip it out, I would find that it just snaps. UGHH! It was so frustrating. This quilt top was so cute, and now I just want to throw it away...

I figure it will be alright though... Oakley is only two and I'm sure he isn't going to look at the quilt and think "Ew! no way am I sleeping with a quilt that has not been properly quilted in 100% cotton thread!"

I hope he loves it. I put a lot of love into it even though it doesn't look the greatest!

"Catchy Title Goes Here"

I made this quilt for my sister Crystal. I just love her to pieces. We are probably the two most different people in the world, we have NOTHING, I mean NOTHING in common.
She has Red hair, I have blonde...

She has Blue eyes, I have green...

We are both kinda short....Hey! there's one thing!

Anyhow, I made this quilt for her to thank her for helping us paint parts of our house. It was nice to have her around and just have someone there to talk to me while I painted.

I'm so proud of her and the changes she has made in her life in the last couple of years. I only want the best for her and it makes me so happy to see her happy. She's got a GrEAT job, a new car, and she's living on her own. GOOD JOB SISTAH!!

I used the pattern from the Old Red Barn Co. Quilt Along. This pattern was really quick, however I can't say that I'm a huge fan. The fabrics looked great on their own, but this pattern didn't really feature the fabrics like I wanted.

Here is the back. I used a bright pink batik. I really need a new camera. This fabric was gorgeous and the picture does not do justice.

A little more of the back below.

Crystal and I went shopping for the fabric together. I helped her pick it out. I hope she loves how it came together! :)

This quilt was huge. It's queen size, this is BY FAR the biggest quilt I have ever made.
